Celebrating Our 60th Jubilee!
Mary Immaculate Catholic School opened our doors in September of 1959 to provide Catholic, Christ-centered academic excellence to North Texas families. We are grateful to the thousands of families, students, faculty and staff who have made MIS the wonderful home that it is!
Student Celebrations
Faculty, staff and students kicked-off our 60th Jubilee by creating a living “60” on the playground the second day of school. Current students and staff celebrated the milestone every 60 days with a different ‘triad.’ Click the header to see student ideas to celebrate our jubilee!
Triad I: Faith. From Aug. 15-Nov. 8, 2019, students focused on faith and prayer. Click here to see the prayer students said at the beginning of each day this Jubilee year.
Triad II: Hope. From Nov. 11, 2019 through Feb. 18, 2020, students focused on the virtue of hope, particularly on providing hope through giving of ourselves. MIS banks were sent home and students were asked to collect change throughout this triad. Banks were presented at Mass on Feb. 21 and proceeds benefitted St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Triad III: Love. From Feb. 19 through May 31, students were planning to focus on the virtue of love, particularly charity but then the 2020 pandemic hit, so they focused on serving and loving their families.
jubilee mass & reception
Hundreds attended our Nov. 9, 2019 Jubilee Mass and Reception with Bishop Greg Kelly, who served in the absence of Msgr. Albert Cuschieri, and Vicar Provincial of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate from Washington DC, Fr. Art Flores! Fr. Bruce Bradley, Fr. Leon Duesman, Fr. Franck Agbowai, Fr. Giuseppe Spoto, and Fr. Michael Forge concelebrated. It was a tremendous blessing to have representation of every former pastor and Oblate priest at the Mass!
Guests enjoyed the band, food, memories and visiting with friends at the Jubilee reception that followed in the parish hall. We are sincerely grateful to the following for their efforts toward the Jubilee Mass and reception: Sr. Mary Anne, Linda Coffin, Kimberly Guidry Speirs, Debby King, Stephanie Koch, Anne Holubec, Teresa Flores, Sherry McCord, Prici Mahaffey, Kimberly Murawski and Anne Bremer.

Shining Brightly With His Light
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” ~ John 8:12. As this is our diamond jubilee, we reflect on the many ways Mary Immaculate School has kindled the light of Christ in our lives. We invite Jesus to flood our souls with the fragrance of his spirit and pray he shines through us so brightly that others are inspired to follow the light of Christ with us. Bishop Edward Burns celebrated Holy Mass and blessed the school on Aug. 30, 2019. At that Mass, students sang “Shine Brightly with Your Light,” a song commissioned specifically for MIS’ 60th Diamond Jubilee!
